Introduction: Department of Surgery is actively working at CUVAS with highly motivated Veterinary Surgeons. It is branch of veterinary medicine that encompasses the surgical operations being performed on animals by competent Veterinary Surgeons. Veterinary Surgery fall into three broad categories; Orthopedics (bones, joints, muscles), Soft tissue surgery (skin, body cavities, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal/urogenital/respiratory tracts), and Neurosurgery. Department of Surgery understands the future potential challenges and problems plaguing the field of veterinary surgery. A team of Veterinary surgeons at CUVAS has a broad range of expertise, and clinical experiences. Our team has an active involvement in clinical service including comprehensive consultation for clients and referring veterinarians on veterinary surgery-related questions, concerns, or issues. Our faculty is extremely active in veterinary clinical surgery training and teaching of veterinarians and veterinary students with the most applicable and updated information. The department has been equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging equipment i.e. Digital X-ray and latest ultrasound facilities. Two fully working state of the art operation theaters have been engaged in training the students and operating the small animals. These operating rooms have been equipped with emergency equipment(s), Modern anesthesia machine(s), and oxygen units for continuous supply during operation or other related procedures. To improve the quality of education and practical skills of the students, the Department of Surgery is going to start two-degree Postgraduate programs including M.Phil. & Ph.D. in the near future.
