The Cholistan Institute of Biological Sciences (CIBS) is an educational and research institute dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding in the field of biology. Originally established as the Department of Zoology in 2018, it has been providing quality education and cutting-edge research opportunities in various areas of animal sciences.
Since its establishment, hundreds of students have graduated from the department and are now serving in numerous national and international organizations. Several graduates have won international scholarships and are currently enrolled in renowned universities and research institutes worldwide.
Establishment and Expansion
In 2025, the Department of Zoology at CUVAS was upgraded to the Cholistan Institute of Biological Sciences (CIBS), reflecting its expanded scope, research capabilities, and academic offerings. With a strong commitment to excellence, the institute provides a collaborative environment for students, faculty, and researchers to explore the complexities of life at molecular, cellular, and ecological levels.
CIBS offers a range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, along with cutting-edge research opportunities, in disciplines such as Fisheries and Aquaculture, Paleontology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Entomology, Parasitology, Herpetology, Ornithology, Biodiversity, Environmental Biology, Wildlife and Ecology, and other disciplines of Biological Sciences. These fields play a significant role in human resource development, food security, environmental conservation, sustainable development, and poverty alleviation.
Commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
By fostering innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration, the CIBS is dedicated to focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — a set of 17 global objectives established by the United Nations in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. These goals aim to address urgent global challenges, promote prosperity, protect the planet, and ensure peace and well-being for all people.
State-of-the-Art Research Facilities
CIBS boasts state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern scientific equipment essential for practical and research work. As part of a contemporary Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, we also have access to the fully established laboratories of our sister departments.
